Asterism

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 3, 2026

Asterism collects nothing. It has no account, no analytics, and no network access at all. Everything you enter stays on your device.

Overview

Asterism (listed on the App Store as “Asterism: Life in Weeks”) is an iPhone app that draws your life as a grid of weeks and lets you mark the moments that mattered. This policy explains what the app creates, where it is stored, and what leaves your device. Nothing does.

Data That Stays on Your Device

As you use Asterism, the following is created and stored locally on your iPhone:

This data never leaves your device. There is no server, no cloud account, and no remote sync. It is stored in the app's own on-device storage.

No Network Access

Asterism ships with no network capability in the app binary at all. It cannot send your data anywhere, because it cannot make network requests in the first place — the privacy claim is a property of the software, not a promise in a document. The app works identically whether your device is online or in airplane mode.

Notifications

Asterism can show one optional local notification: a Monday note that a new week has begun. It is never requested during onboarding. Only after you mark your first moment, or turn the weekly note on in Settings, does the app ask the system for permission. The notification is scheduled locally on your device with real numbers computed on your device — there is no push server, and no data is sent to schedule or deliver it. You can turn it off any time in Settings or in iOS Settings.

Data Collection

Asterism collects no data. Specifically:

This corresponds to “Data Not Collected” in the App Store's privacy label.

Exporting Your Data

From Settings, you can export your life as a plain, human-readable file through the standard iOS share sheet. That file is created only when you ask for it, and it goes only where you choose to send it. Asterism never uploads or shares it on its own.

Backups

Because your data lives in your device's storage, it is included in your normal iPhone backups (Finder or iCloud device backups) just like other app data. Those backups are managed by Apple under your own Apple account and settings — Asterism has no access to them.

Third-Party Services

Asterism integrates with no third-party services, SDKs, advertising networks, or analytics providers. It uses only Apple frameworks that run on-device (SwiftUI, local storage, and local notifications), and none of them send anything to us or anyone else.

Data Retention

Your birthdate, moments, and preferences are retained on your device until you change or erase them, or uninstall the app. Settings includes an “Erase everything” option that permanently removes your data from the device. Uninstalling Asterism also removes its locally stored data; any file you exported, and any device backup, remains under your control.

Children's Privacy

Asterism collects no data from anyone, including children. Because nothing is collected or transmitted, there are no age-related privacy concerns.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. Since Asterism collects no data, changes are unlikely, but we will update this policy if the app's data practices ever change.
