Privacy Policy

Overview

Lift is an iOS app that extracts text from your screenshots using on-device optical character recognition. This privacy policy explains what data Lift accesses, how it is used, and what leaves your device (nothing).

Data That Stays on Your Device

When you use Lift, the following data is created and stored locally on your iPhone:

• Thumbnail images of your screenshots, saved to the app's local storage
• Extracted text from your screenshots, stored in a local database
• Your settings preferences (expiry duration, source deletion preference)
• A timestamp of your last screenshot scan

This data never leaves your device. There is no server, no cloud storage, and no sync mechanism. When items expire or are deleted, the data is permanently removed from local storage.

Photo Library Access

Lift requests access to your photo library to find and read your screenshots. Lift only reads screenshots (a specific media subtype) and ignores photos, videos, and other media. Lift does not modify, upload, or share your photos in any way.

If you enable the "Delete source screenshots" setting, Lift will request deletion of individual screenshots from your photo library after import. This always triggers an iOS system confirmation dialog that requires your explicit approval for each deletion.

Text Recognition

Text extraction is performed entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. No screenshot data, image data, or extracted text is sent to any server, API, or third-party service. The processing happens locally and instantly.

Clipboard

When you tap to copy text, Lift writes the extracted text to your device's clipboard. Lift does not read or monitor your clipboard at any other time.

Data Collection

Lift collects no data. Specifically:

• No analytics or usage tracking
• No crash reporting or telemetry
• No advertising identifiers
• No personal information
• No network requests of any kind

Lift works fully offline. It functions identically with or without an internet connection.

Third-Party Services

Lift does not integrate with any third-party services, SDKs, or APIs. There are no analytics providers, no ad networks, and no external dependencies that handle user data.

Data Retention

Imported screenshots and their extracted text are retained locally based on your expiry setting (default: 48 hours). When an item expires, its data is permanently deleted from local storage. Pinned items are retained until you manually delete them or uninstall the app.

Uninstalling Lift removes all locally stored data, including thumbnails, extracted text, and settings.

Children's Privacy

Lift does not collect data from anyone, including children. Since no data is collected or transmitted, there are no age-related privacy concerns.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL. Since Lift collects no data, changes are unlikely, but we will update this policy if the app's data practices change in any way.
