Privacy policy

Up Down stores your workout log on your device. The app does not send your workouts to us and has no advertising, tracking, or analytics SDKs.

What the app stores

Up Down, provided by Matthew Kearney, stores exercises, sets, notes, workout dates, timing, routines, exercise preferences, and imported records locally so you can log workouts and review your history. No account is required.

Apple Health

If you choose Import timing from Apple Health, Up Down asks for read access to workouts. It retains timing records from Fitbod, including start and end times, durations, timing events, and source identifiers, to match them to your imported history. This information stays in your local log. Up Down does not write to Apple Health or use Health data for advertising.

You can change Health access in Apple Health or device settings. Revoking access stops future reads; use Erase all data in Up Down to remove previously imported copies.

Files and backups

The app reads files you select for import. Exports and full backups are saved only when you choose to export them. Full backups include imported Health timing. Where you save or share a file determines who can access it; files saved to a cloud provider are handled under that provider’s privacy policy.

Your device’s backup settings may also affect how app data is backed up. Up Down has no account-based cloud sync.

Deleting your data

Settings → Erase all data removes the app’s local workouts, imported Health timing, routines, preferences, sample logs, and recovery copies. It does not delete records in Apple Health or exports and backups you saved outside the app. You control those separately. We cannot recover your local log because we do not receive it.

Sample data

Example workouts are stored in a separate sample log. They are not treated as your exercise history.

Support and this website

If you email us, we receive the email address and information you choose to send. We use that information to respond to your request. Please avoid sending workout or Health data unless it is necessary for the issue you want help with. You can ask us to delete support correspondence.

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical information, such as IP addresses, to serve and secure the site under its privacy statement. These Up Down pages include no analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. Opening a website or email link uses your browser or email app and is separate from the offline workout log.

Children’s privacy

Up Down does not collect workout data or require personal information from app users, including children.

Policy changes

Any changes to this policy will be posted here with a revised effective date. We will update the app’s disclosures if its data practices change.
